Amber Silver is a starting artist from Sumas First Nation (Abbotsford BC), Chehalis and Sto:lo Nation located in Chilliwack, BC. She Attended school at the University of the Fraser Valley, taking indigenous and
visual art classes, but she didn’t learn all of her traits from university. Her grandmother, Hazel, taught her how to bead at a young age, and from elementary through to high school there were many First Nations activities that Amber learned and participated in, such as carving paddles and totem poles, making button blankets,
etching designs on glass and painting plaques. Amber is inspired to keep the Native art culture alive and
evolving through new technqiues and technologies that can be useful in art today. She enjoys designing and creating a mixture of traditional and modern designs in her artwork.
